Fresh, dying roses; “trench art” vase (art created by soldiers on the battlefield) made from a 105 mm tank shell; morticians’ makeup powder; hemlock, water, shelf, metal brackets, typeset, polyurethane.

A fresh bouquet of roses was placed in the sculpture at the opening of the exhibition, An Instinct Toward Life. A WWII veteran periodically dusted mortician’s powder onto their petals until the show’s end.
