About the Show:
SITE 20 Years/20 Shows: SUMMER is the second in a yearlong series that celebrates SITE’s dynamic exhibition history by reconnecting with artists who have exhibited with us over the years and inviting them to return to present new work. This summer, five SITE exhibiting artists return to SITE to present a new show, this time in partnership with a range of collaborators.
Featured artists include: Janine Antoni, Amy Cutler, Ann Hamilton, Harmony Hammond, and Dario Robleto.
In the summer of 2015 Robleto presented an installation of works based on his collaborations with sound historian Patrick Feaster and Lance and April Ledbetter of Dust-to-Digital Records. Over the past several years, Robleto has been engaged in a deep exploration of the history of the human heartbeat as image and sound. The exhibition at SITE will focus on the link between this work, Feaster’s innovative techniques to “playback” visual records that predate both cinema and audio history, and Ledbetter’s work with early spirituals.
